I believe that the $10 reduction is for the voice minutes minimum plan, and not the $30 data unlimited portion. I'm not certain what 3 new phones you're talking about.

So far, all this is just a rumor, right? I am looking at getting an iPhone for my wife, as her V557 is getting a bit long in the tooth, and I might wait for a few weeks if this is likely to happen. Is it just the lowest entry-level plan that is rumored to get a price drop, or all plans?

I always read that it applies only to the lowest minutes package plan.

I've read that the basic voice and data plan is to be reduced: $39. + 30 =$69, will drop to $59. The source only refers to that individual 450 minute plan and no other. Not clear at all if it applies to family or higher minute plans. It's meant for the entry level person.

BTW, the 2 yr contract has never meant that you can't change your plan mid stream. For years I've change plans (that usually gives me more minutes/data for the same or less $). I just have to sign up for another 2 years (meaning that if I was 1 yr into the contract, the new contract start date is the day of the new change).

I've never had a contract extension with a rate plan change, and I've been with ATT/Cingular for years.

Same here. No contract extension or modification, not even when last year I combined one line with no contract and one line with 10 months left on a 2 yr contract.

Infact, I just changed a couple of things yesterday on one of my lines and no impact on either line.

Hmmm. It's has been 6 years since I changed a rate plan; most of my extensions have been upgrading the phone (that will do it) or adding text, data and the like ( that does not incur an extension).

But If i changed from a minute package to a new named promo rate they offered, that is a contract change, like a phone upgrade, and it means an extension. It never bothered me because, where else would I go? With international travel, Cingular/ATT is the only place (besides Tmobile). Been with ATT and Cingular and SNET since 1995 continuously.

Boy, do I have a lot of phones in the closet. Some real bricks too.
