Although Shizam would be perfect candidate for posting this... here's another recommendation. I love the TrackID app on my SE, and now iPhone has Shazam available which is similar. One of the iPhonites in the office said it was the best free app he downloaded so far.

Midomi also does song identification. It generally only needs about 10 seconds of sampling, but it also handles singing or humming the tune. Here's a few other apps I recommend for their quality: Epocrates RX - medical ____ reference MySpace - slick interface for MySpace, but no blog support yet eBay - quick access to auctions AOL Radio - streaming music WeatherBug - detailed weather info with radar maps BoxOffice - movie information and showtimes Google - basic, but it has autocomplete and is quicker than opening Safari then getting the keyboard up Other good ones that I haven't used much, but should be popular: AIM Twitterific Flashlight PhoneSaber I also like a few sites that are designed for the iPhone: ESPN PicasaWeb (have a lot of photos on here and this makes it easy to show them off on the iPhone) Google Calendar (and Gmail, etc) USAA |

This technically isn't an App, but it virtually is. On your iPhone (or iPod Touch) go to The Weather Channel. It should bring up the weather for your location. Then bookmark it to your home screen and viola, a nice weather app. It displays current weather, 10 day forcast, radar map (with motion), cloud cover map (with motion), and cloud and radar map (with motion). Best of all you don't have to download anything. Just have some type of internet connection. |

My new fav thing is a Web App (not sure the direct link) but it's the card game Phase 10, the only downside is you can only play against the computer, not other real players, but if you're looking to kill time, it's a great way to do it. ~*Ash*~

I recommend these: For your PC, QuickPWN to jailbreak your iphone. Takes 10 minutes and it is so easy it's foolproof! Via Appstore: WeatherBug - More detail than the default iPhone weather app. Shazam - Identify title/artist of songs AOL Radio - Listen to CBS and AOL Radio stations Pandora - Make your own radio station. Last.fm - Similar to Pandora FStream - If you like Shoucast and you need AAC support, this is the best. Tuner - Listen to Live365 stations and a lot more. Parlingo - Much better than AIM, plus support for MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, etc. Fring - Use your favorite VoIP service and save on minutes and long distance. i.TV - Your favorite TV listings. Scroll through a time grid or search your favorite shows. Via Cydia or Installer: SwirlyMMS - Send/Receive MMS on your iPhone WifiToggle - Turn off/on WiFi with a single touch. swapBT - Turn off/on your Bluetooth with a single touch. VoipOver3g - Spoof apps into thinking they're running on WiFi. Cycorder - Record video on your iPhone PDANet - Tether your iPhone's 3G to your laptop via WiFi. Turns your iPhone into a WiFi router. Chronus - Back up your Installer and Cydia apps. You'll need this every time you upgrade your firmware. BossPrefs - Hide/unhide app icons, change home button behavior, change your battery indicator, and some other perks.

Here is my current is of favorite apps: Bloomberg - gives a lot more market details etc. Google - the voice search and general search is very goooood! Recorder - improved versions now can pause during playback TruPhone - if overseas, cheaper calls to anywhere via wifi - free iphone to iphone - of course works in the US too. i.TV - listings of movies, TV , theaters, and Netflix NY Times - gives the paper in a readable format NPR Mobile - chose and listen to npr stories NPR (from NPR website) - same, but a different interface Tuner - FM tuner for stations around the US - I use the live stream of NPR from Boston BoA - Bank of America iPhone interface for mobile banking Yelp - locates you and tell you what food is nearby mSecure - a good way to password protect your important numbers- Credit cards, ss#, etc TWC - The weather channel. more details than the native iphone app. can have multiple cities Conversions - what is a meter in inches?, $$ too. Livestrong - track your food, weight, exercise - synch with webpage - over 450K food, restaurant nutrition listings listings Shazam - I.D. that radio song that you don't know the title of Pandora - picks and play music streams AOL Radio - similiar to Tuner but complements the stations MotoChaser - road game using the iPhone accelerator for driving Translator from a choice of foreign lang to english Amazon - you know eBay - you know Mobile Fotos - for uploading and viewing photos with Flickr Also there are Solitare and Soduku games a plenty - still fooling with them. There are some spreadsheet, word programs, but I haven't tried them. |

Here is my current list of favorite apps: TextPlus - Free unlimited text messaging. Just have to deal with adds. You can also group message ColorSplash - Loads photos in black and white mode and lets you add color back to the pic. Makes very cool pics and is very usable as you can zoom in very close for fine editing. Facebook - self explanatory iGlowstick - useless but cool. Turn your iphone into a glowstick Zippo - useless but cool shotgun - useless but cool PhoneFlicks - Netflix app to manage your queue |
