Thanks dmapr, a rather useful program at a reasonable price at that.

I will be sure to mention it to my iCultee friends

Although Shizam would be perfect candidate for posting this... here's another recommendation. I love the TrackID app on my SE, and now iPhone has Shazam available which is similar. One of the iPhonites in the office said it was the best free app he downloaded so far.

Midomi also does song identification. It generally only needs about 10 seconds of sampling, but it also handles singing or humming the tune.

Here's a few other apps I recommend for their quality:
Epocrates RX - medical ____ reference
MySpace - slick interface for MySpace, but no blog support yet
eBay - quick access to auctions
AOL Radio - streaming music
WeatherBug - detailed weather info with radar maps
BoxOffice - movie information and showtimes
Google - basic, but it has autocomplete and is quicker than opening Safari then getting the keyboard up

Other good ones that I haven't used much, but should be popular:
AIM
Twitterific
Flashlight
PhoneSaber

I also like a few sites that are designed for the iPhone:
ESPN
PicasaWeb (have a lot of photos on here and this makes it easy to show them off on the iPhone)
Google Calendar (and Gmail, etc)
USAA

This technically isn't an App, but it virtually is. On your iPhone (or iPod Touch) go to The Weather Channel. It should bring up the weather for your location. Then bookmark it to your home screen and viola, a nice weather app.

It displays current weather, 10 day forcast, radar map (with motion), cloud cover map (with motion), and cloud and radar map (with motion). Best of all you don't have to download anything. Just have some type of internet connection.

Does anyone know of an App that will let me access my newsgroups on the iPhone?

I think I've got myLite now. It lets you specify the color, and also various strobe effects that rotate between colors. Oh, and there's also a lighter with flame.

UPDATE: Look for The Weather Channel application in the App Store in the next few weeks!

My new fav thing is a Web App (not sure the direct link) but it's the card game Phase 10, the only downside is you can only play against the computer, not other real players, but if you're looking to kill time, it's a great way to do it.

Default Re: IPhone Applications Recommended

I recommend these:

For your PC, QuickPWN to jailbreak your iphone. Takes 10 minutes and it is so easy it's foolproof!

Via Appstore:
WeatherBug - More detail than the default iPhone weather app.
Shazam - Identify title/artist of songs
AOL Radio - Listen to CBS and AOL Radio stations
Pandora - Make your own radio station.
Last.fm - Similar to Pandora
FStream - If you like Shoucast and you need AAC support, this is the best.
Tuner - Listen to Live365 stations and a lot more.
Parlingo - Much better than AIM, plus support for MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, etc.
Fring - Use your favorite VoIP service and save on minutes and long distance.
i.TV - Your favorite TV listings. Scroll through a time grid or search your favorite shows.

Via Cydia or Installer:
SwirlyMMS - Send/Receive MMS on your iPhone
WifiToggle - Turn off/on WiFi with a single touch.
swapBT - Turn off/on your Bluetooth with a single touch.
VoipOver3g - Spoof apps into thinking they're running on WiFi.
Cycorder - Record video on your iPhone
PDANet - Tether your iPhone's 3G to your laptop via WiFi. Turns your iPhone into a WiFi router.
Chronus - Back up your Installer and Cydia apps. You'll need this every time you upgrade your firmware.
BossPrefs - Hide/unhide app icons, change home button behavior, change your battery indicator, and some other perks.
