We do not support duplication of copyrighted media on this site. Most software that does that comes out of China and Russia, and I personally would not be able to use that software comfortably without fear of viruses or Trojans coming along for the ride.

This isn't the site for that, as Jay said. Google it.

If the same poster who's been signing up with different user names, posting the same spam crap on how to do this, does it again, it will get reported to the Mods, who will delete the thread and ban the poster.

Wow, those are some rough responses considering there are plenty of LEGAL videos to convert and place on your iPod/iPhone.

Using circumvention techniques to copy video with copy protection is illegal, but there are a few unprotected DVDs. Plenty of home videos, some videos/DVDs that you have the rights for (wedding, prom, graduation, etc).

HandBrake is probably the most common software. There's a whole assortment of other programs that may or may not work costing $29.99 more or less.

Just remember, circumvention of copy protection is illegal, but converting videos for use on an iPhone/iPod is not.

Yeah, around the time of the beginning of this thread, there was a spammer who repeatedly posted stuff advertising his/her product. It happened about 4 or 5 times, so when this thread came up, it looked like it could be the same spammer (using another user name) again.

I agree, Handbrake is a good program. I have it myself, so I concur with your recommendation.
