|  AT&T Unveils Unlimited Cell Calling Plan, Excludes iPhone
AT&T Unveils Unlimited Cell Calling Plan, Excludes iPhone On Tuesday, cellular carrier AT&T announced that it would introduce an unlimited calling plan similar to rival Verizon's unlimited plan. The $100/month plan will allow subscribers to call anywhere within the United States sans long distance or roaming charges, regardless on the length of the call. Data and MMS/SMS messaging are not included in the plan but can be added at a $20/month rate, according to AT&T. The plan will become available as of Friday, the 22nd and will not require a contract extension for current subscribers. Unfortunately, the plan is currently targeted towards AT&T's existing handset lineup and doesn't include devices that need special calling or data plans, such as BlackBerries, Windows Mobile devices or Apple's iPhone. AT&T has yet to explain the iPhone's omission from the plan. |

What does the type of phone you have matter as to unlimited calling? I could see AT&T not allowing the $20 data/messaging add-on...but as to why a smartphone would be excluded from a calling (NOT data) plan, well, it seems a bit strange to me.
