Does anyone here know how to manually backup specific apps? I started out wanting to upgrade my Samsung Infuse from Froyo to Gingerbread but when I started my checklist, I realized I left out one important item: I have one or two apps no longer offered on the market that I want to keep. I do not have a rooted phone nor do I wish to root it, I'm not that hardcore of a user.

Without root, I think you will need to use an app like My Backup (Pro). I am not sure if they still offer a free version or not.

I have used AppSaver once, about a year back. I see it is still around, maybe take a look at that.

Have you checked to see if the apps are available off market? Some developers still support their apps off the market.

Hi AnthroMat & Charlyee. Thanks to you both. I knew about those apps., just wasn't sure if I could selectively choose just certain apps to backup. When it comes to my phone, I must admit I'm even more cautious than my computer. If I crash the computer, I've got backups and original CD's for installation. Also, I can probably go a day or so with my computer. When it comes to my phone, if I do something stupid with it and lose data & use of phone, it would greatly impact my ability to conduct my daily business. As much as "new" always interests me, I think I need to be satisfied with what I have.
Hi Budney: I've gone so far as to write the developer using the last known email. No response. |
