Default Post your Android Home Screens/Themes Here

Taking a page from Irene and the blackberry users here at WA. It is time for us Android users to show off our home screen(s) & themes. Below are instruction on how to take a picture of your home screen. If your device is rooted you can use ShootMe instead.

  1. Download and install the Android SDK. Don’t worry – unlike some SDKs, installing the Android kit is completely straightforward.
  2. Enable USB Debugging on the device by going to Settings -> Applications -> Development and checking the proper box.
  3. Plug the Android device into the USB port.
  4. Find the folder containing the SDK you just installed. The location will vary depending on which operating system you’re using, and where you chose to install it. On all platforms, the folder name should begin with “android-sdk-”. For example, the folder for the current build on OS X is “android-sdk-mac_x86-1.0_r1″
  5. Open the tools folder within the Android SDK folder.
  6. Double click the file titled “DDMS”. This stands for Dalvik Debug Monitor Service.
  7. In DDMS, your device should be listed. Highlight it by clicking on it.
  8. In the application’s top menus, go to Device -> Screen capture.
You should be good to go. Use the handset to navigate to whatever screen you want a shot of, press the “Refresh” button to recapture the screen, and once you’ve got it just right, hit the “Save” button. Once you’ve gone through it the first time, the process is actually easier than busting out the point-and-shoot.

Here is my home screen, the WA main website, and the Droid X lock screen. I just rooted my Droid X today (after installing the official OTA Froyo update on Wednesday). I have installed the Shoot Me app to take these screenshots. I also backed up all of my programs and system files with Titanium Backup.

I like all your screens...especially how the WA screen is displayed, Gamer! Looks like easier access to various area's of WA, etc...much better than BB. It's got me thinking of what to do next April!

The WAP site looks and handles pretty well on the 9700 as well. Have you tried http://wa00.com, from your BB?

We will Ofcourse WELCOME you into the Android clan.

I like your screens Gamer, very nice.

Nice screens budney and Charlyee.

I am sure you both will agree that it is handy having multiple screens with Android in order to add your favorite programs/widgets too. It also helps keep everything better organized.

Thanks CRC.

Charlyee is right. The WAP entrance also worked well on my Storm 2 (although my Droid X has a bigger screen and a better built-in browser than my Storm 2 did).

Nice screenshots everyone.
budney, on your Vibrant screenshots, how come you don't have a "tab" on the bottom to pull up the main menu? Also, what's that weather thing you have in the top middle? ...that says "Fountain Valley, CA"...

Oh, and thanks everyone for having Cellumap on there

The reason I don't have a tab is that I am running LauncherPro.

LauncherPro - Android app on AppBrain

But if I am not mistaken the design is taken from 2.2/Froyo. Also TouchWiz that is native to the GalaxyS phones does not have the tab either.

And the weather widget is from the WeatherBug app.

And here is my evos background. I am just showing the main page, and one swipe to the left and right. The white spaces on the left page are speed dial pictures with their name under it, so I whited it out. The rest of the home pages are uneventful, like a full page calendar, another full page of CNN headlines, and one with ESPN Score Center.
