Default Adding A Line (Divested) For A Customer Outside Alltel Area

Well I might be going to NJ again in a few weeks,
and would like to give my girlfriend Melissa an Alltel phone (my LG AX300 new in the box).

There are a few concerns I have though.

1. We're divested, and that should mean that her phone will not belong to Verizon
if I get her a number from Gaffney, but not Spartanburg.

2. It would be roaming non-stop on VZW in NJ, unless I get her a non-divested Alltel number
from Spartanburg or Greenville.
Too much roaming might be a bad thing for whoever buys our market.

3. Is it possible to add a non divested number to my account?
(so we'd have 2 divested, and one non-divested number on our account).

Or what would be a good option in this case?

Her dad got rid of 3 T-Mobile lines, and they now have 1 Virgin Mobile phone (limited use prepaid),
so I'd like to give her an add-a-line Alltel (SC area code) number that she can use to call me from NJ
and have unlimited access to my 16-number circle.
I'm just hoping the new company won't eliminate her line for roaming too much.

because I don't think they'd let me activate a non-divested number over the phone or in the Gaffney store.

One account can NOT contain both divested and non-divested customers. This is an anti-trust rule. Legally Alltel currently exists as two separate entities: Non-divested, which will eventually be absorped into Verizon, and Divested which will be sold off as buyers are found. The two companies are not allowed to interact. This is a legal issue.

So the bottom line is this: No, you can't have a divested and non-divested line on the "same" account. It would be different account with totally different companies.

Thanks for that info. I guess I'll just add her a line from Gaffney,

I'll give it a try it and see what happens.

the worst case they'd cancel that line after a few months, without ETF,
but then I would just transfer her number to a separate Verizon account.
