I have my phone and the "add a line" phone that I got. My fiance is breaking up with me and i'm not going to pay her phone bill. i don't care about the phone or any of that

is there a way to move that phone /number to its own account that she can put under her name?

Yes, it's known as a supercedure or Change of Responsibility. It is not something done over the phone and does require paper documentation filled out both by YOU and the person who will be taking over the phone, showing both partyies agreement in the matter.

You can get the form at Alltel.com by clicking on the link for FAQ's, typing change of responsibility in the search box and running a search. The first link in the list of returned matches is the one you want; it contains general instructions, a link to the form and where you can mail it once it is complete (or you can turn it in at a sales office and they'll send it in for you). It takes several business days to complete and could result in a deposit on the new account.

Yeah, A friend of mine did this when she got divorced, she took his line and had them create a new account in his name for her ex'es line.

if you supplied your own phone for the second line instead of signing a contract, you might be able to cancel that line without penalty and avoid some paperwork. most folks sign the contract to get the discount on a new phone though.

CONTRACT. I hate that word. Truth be told, you don't sign a "contract" but a "Service Agreement" stating how long you agree to stay with the company, the cost of leaving early, and the terms and conditions you agree to aby by.

Also, did everybody realize you can't take the company to court? By the Terms and Conditions, you agreed to binding arbitration for any disputes. As I tell customers all the time, you want to read the fine print.

and he's right about the arbitration clause. whether it's "terms and conditions" or a contract, it's BINDING and it ain't going to be decided in any court. I did read yesterday, though, that congress is pressuring the cell companies into some sort of deal to eliminate the early termination fees. Seems that someone who cancels with 2 months to go on a 2 year agreement shouldn't be penalized the same as someone who cancels two months after signing up.

Read closer. Many groups are clamoring about this, but one BIG force is against Congress doing ANYTHING - and that's the individual STATES. States don't want an Nationwide unilateral read on this because they feel it impinges on THEIR sovereign rights to manage businesses within their borders.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but it's a LONG way from realization.

LOL. In Congress, just about everything is a LONG way from realization.
