Question family plan to single line???

Hey there I am hoping that some one might have the answer to my question!?

My mother and I are on a family plan with Alltel, she is the account holder. What I am wondering is if she can change her plan to just a single account with out getting screwed for dropping my line? Reason being I started a job a Sprint and I get free servie thru them, so no need for the Alltel line. My guess is that we will get charged $200 for it, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew for sure.

thanks

Traitor. :p

Nope, you'll have the 200 charge. You can ask if they can discontinue the service on *611 but I got a feeling that they'll charge you. Sorry. See if someone wants a discounted contract? The only workaround I could figure is if someone wanted to not have a full 2 year contract they could take your old phone and then just do a change of ownership. That's about all I got.

Maybe someone if they work in the customer service department will know.

It all depends on your contract end date. I didn't notice where you mentioned how long you've been with alltel or the last time you got a new phone. But normally, contracts are 2 years. If you're out of contract then it's free, but if you're still in contract, then the early termination fee is usually $200. It may work out better to just keep service for a few more months if you're close to the contract end date.

Default Anytime Plan Changes

From the Alltel Website

It's all about flexibility.

Think you should be able to change your wireless plan when life changes? We couldn’t agree more.

We understand that sometimes you need to make a change. You just got married. You’ve made a career move. Or maybe you just want more minutes than you thought you’d need. Whatever the reason, with Alltel you can change your rate plan to accommodate life’s changes without the worry of extending your contract or getting hit with hidden fees. Life’s unpredictable. But your wireless company shouldn’t be. Count on us to give you the flexibility life demands.

Give Alltel a call and discuss your options. It probably depends on which Family Plan you currently have and which Individual plan you want to switch to. You have to compare the total package and the cost and features of the various plans.
