The rep in the local office told me about the new Blackberry world phone coming to Alltel as well, this is great news now just if the RAZR 2 (V9) would get here, or atleast some pricing news and a release date.

Yes that would be good to know. I am waiting to get a new phone. Would like to get RAZR 2 or also would like to look at the new ROKR Z6M aka Slider RAZR aka RIZR.

Well since Alltel has new $$$ backing I think they could very well end up with the new CDMA version of the RIZR which should be coming out in a few months.... looks like Alltel will finally start getting into the big time phone biz now.... wonder what the phones for the holidays around Nov and Dec hold...

They got sold, they have two large private equity firms that will own them by end of year.. they have a huge cash backing now... even if the firms dont dump money into Alltel it still looks good for them... now they can bargain for better phones easier

Alltel has NOT been sold yet. It still needs governmental approval, and no words have come out yet regarding that approval either being favorable OR negative.

In other words, NO money and NO financial backing is in place for some time. Most analysts don't think the decision will come back until first quarter 2008.....

True it wont go through till end of the year or first of next year... but sometimes just the idea of something like two large firms with lots of money backing a company is enough to get phone producers to notice a little guy like Alltel.... many arrows point that way... either way its about time... it was always a shame how the cell phone producers always would overlook a smaller company and give them the lower end or low quality equipment and give the big guys the flashy good phones... Alltel will have money backing them in time, and when things do go through, which i am sure they will... (i mean if the FCC and Justice Dept will allow at&t to buy Bell South, and now Dobson Cell which i know hasnt gone through yet. I dont really see them having a huge issue with this two firms getting Alltel) either way Alltel finally has some great phones on the road ahead... be interesting to see what Samsungs they bring out next seeing as it seems Alltel is going more towards Samsung as their primary producer for equipment, closely followed by LG.
