Images: 21 | I have heard rumors of this happening in our market, but I have never experienced the power and the glory of EV-DO for more than a second or two. MobiTV, here I come!

I kept seeing it when I turned the KRZR on but then I figured that it defaults to "EV" but quickly moves to "D" when EV-DO isn't detected. I was so sad. I know it will probably go away for a while until they're ready for the full-on launch but it's still an exciting step. I'd like to give a big shout out to mah peeps in Grand Rapids, MI, whose full Alltel EV-DO launch was last week. HOLLA!

Consider yourself lucky, I have people enraged daily wondering what the red EV means. People try and blame it for a multitude of issues, from dropped calls to features not working. But I am excited about it still |

In my area, when Verizon was testing EVDO (all the way to 1.5 months before it came out), they had to shut it off during the day, since people were complaining about their battery life being bad. Eventually, it was released, and I have been enjoying EVDO ever since. |

Ahh EV-DO, one day in and I don't think I can live without it. WA00.com loads so fast now, I don't think I could ever go back.

I'm still silently wishing for UMTS over here, but alas there's not even EV-DO here.

Where are you in Utah. I know that Alltel customers in Salt Lake City and Provo will be getting Sprint's EVDO.

Images: 21 | Oh, oops. No idea... I don't even know when they're going to "launch" it here. Just know they're testing it because my phone has been on EV-DO for the last few days. |

Strunke: Actually license search shows centennial in the 800 mhz range and Cingular @ 1900 mhz, it's just the nimby's methinks.

Images: 2 | Just go check out verizon's coverage maps. They are here Or just google "Verizon Coverage" Then input your location and check "Broadband access and VCAST" to get the boradband map. Yellow is just CDMA Digital, Purple is Current EV-DO, and the pinkish color is "future ev-do coverage." Don't ask me what they mean by "future" If you're in price, it looks like its in the "future" category. |
