My son wants a new phone for Christmas, and we have a contract with (5) phones on CellularOne that will be up for renewal soon, so the local CellularOne office says that's no problem. However, they don't have much to offer, and I'd like to purchase an unlocked phone from a third part reseller and have CellularOne configure it for their network. I know this is possible, and have known folks who have done this with other carriers. My question is, who at CellularOne will be the best contact for this request, and if they try to B.S. me, what is my next course of action? Thanks, Steve P. |

From doing some research you are in a Cellular One divestment market that ATT has to sell off to someone which is going to be more than like Verizon, so in roughly 6 months that are will be Verizon. ATT already had coverage in the area so they have to see the Cellone towers in your area. If it were me since your at the end of your contract I would go check out ATT they are more open to letting non ATT handsets run on their network. Cellone is not as helpful unless it is unlocked and it is in their product line up such as moto razor, blackberry pearls etc. | |

Yeah, I heard that ATT was actually "merging" or aquiring all the CellularOne stores, but apparently the deal fell through, and some are going to remain with Dobson Cellular, ours among them. I'll give it another week, but it looks like we're stuck with them for now. Thanks for the reply. Steve P. |
