Unlimited Wireless Carrier MetroPCS Expands Coverage in NJ, NY and CT

MetroPCS Expansion to Bring 250 Jobs and Most Affordable Calling Plans in the Market

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 2009-- Residents of the Tri-State area now have a new alternative to costly traditional wireless service plans. MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE: PCS), the nation's leading provider of unlimited, flat-rate, no signed contract wireless communications service, announces the expansion of its New York City area service to include Long Island, North Central New Jersey, White Plains and New Rochelle, N.Y., Stamford and Bridgeport, Conn. This expansion includes two MetroPCS company-owned retail stores, 50 authorized dealer locations and fifteen Best Buy stores. MetroPCS’ expansion will bring 250 jobs to the area. For more information on MetroPCS and coverage areas, please go to Unlimited Wireless Service - MetroPCS.

MetroPCS offers a diverse selection of service plans, which allow customers to talk 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week, and gives residents of the Tri-State area enhanced service options for a wireless experience that best fits their lifestyles. With MetroPCS, customers pay by the month, not by the minute, and services do not require a signed contract, deposit or credit check.

“Following a successful launch in New York City and northern New Jersey, MetroPCS is expanding its footprint in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut,” said Dan Olmetti, vice president and general manager of MetroPCS New York. “Our coverage area in the Northeast is growing, and not only are we committed to bringing our customers affordable and reliable wireless service but we are also excited to provide residents with career opportunities.”

MetroPCS offers a number of unlimited service options, including unlimited family plans, MetroPCS Unlimited NationwideSM, unlimited international calling and GroupLINESM. MetroPCS Unlimited Nationwide allows MetroPCS customers to use their service in more than 4,600 cities and towns in the continental United States. This expanded network is included at no additional charge in MetroPCS’ current $40, $45 and $50 service plans. Unlimited international calling allows MetroPCS customers to call more than 100 countries and over 1,000 destinations for an additional $5 per month.

Continued consumer demand for MetroPCS’ wireless service as well as entry into new markets, such as the Tri-State area, has been the driving factor behind the company’s growth to over 6.3 million subscribers nationwide as of June 30, 2009.

Consumers can visit any of MetroPCS’ current authorized dealer locations or visit MetroPCS’ Web site at Unlimited Wireless Service - MetroPCS for more information about plans and coverage as well as the international locations covered by unlimited international calling.

They just opened a store here in Union on Rt 22, haven't had a chance to go in & check it out. It's next door to the T-Mobile store lol. (not being in prevention anymore means I miss out on these places opening in town)

Metro PCS is in trouble here in Union, they opened the store without a Certificate of occupancy, did construction without permits & have been having a problem with some of the younger clientel being disruptive.
As of now the town may shut down the store.
