RUMOR: T-mobile to let Suncom customer opt out of contracts?

I was told that when T-mobile takes over Suncom that suncom customers with less than 90 days remaining under contract will be allowed to opt out of their contracts. (however that rumor came out before T-mobile launched the new unlimited plans.)

Can anyone confirm or deny?

SunCom wireless customers will have to wait until after October to know how the merger with T-Mobile will affect their rate plans and phones.

T-Mobile’s $2.4 billion purchase of Suncom received approval from the Federal Communications Commission late Friday. The merger will close at month’s end, the companies said Monday.

But the transition for SunCom customers won’t happen until at least October, SunCom spokeswoman Paige Layne said. In the meantime, SunCom customers can use the same phones and rate plans, she said.

After October, it’s unknown what will happen to SunCom’s offerings. T-Mobile officials provided no details Monday. A letter posted on SunCom’s Web site from T-Mobile’s president says, “It’s our intention to provide comparable or greater value rate plans to SunCom customers.”
