Well, you can go into the message menu -> settings -> alert and change the alerts recieved for all the different message types. I liked this until I started adding people to my phonebook. It seems like the phone ignores the settings in the message menu and then uses the call ringer setup in the address book. Since it defaults to "common" in the address book ringer setup (for each entry), what I get is a 1 second long piece of my normal ringtone when a text message comes in. This behavior is annoying and I would like to force the phone to use the message menu alerts rings I setup instead as the default ring style. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks |

I've also noticed this behavior on my phone and uh... I don't like it! I don't like it one bit. (side note: i do like everything else thus far sans GIN) It's rather annoying to go through the paces to set up each individual ring to have it play 5 seconds of my "common" ringtone when I receive text messages. The appropriate (read: the one I chose) ringtone actually works for email alerts. As I do not have a fix for this, I am co-signing on hrana's annoyances in hopes that someone DOES and CAN find a way to remedy this.... how do you say.... ANNOYANCE! (but i really do like this phone... except GIN) <sigh> see u all everywhere else we're discussing this wonderful phone (GIN? NO!)... |

Yes, I have the same problem...and it is quite annoying....defeats the whole purpose of being able to customize your message alerts....It works so long as you receive messages from people not in your contact...but how often does that happen.....no workaround that I am aware of....I posted to audiovox customer service...I don't think they have a clue what they are doing there.....they swear up and down that it works, and told me if my phone is defective, to send it back.....why? so I can get another one with the same problem?...anyways...so far that's my only complaing...
