Is there a way to set up the Sanyo 4900 to show a downloaded picture when a particular phone number calls? I've downloaded a few of my own pictures and added them to my phone book, but when that person dials my phone I show their phone number only. Thanks. |

You can, but I can't explain right at this moment. It was pretty easy to figure out just by going through the menus. |

when you enter the person into your phone book, if you scroll down past their name and numbers, theres a section for images, select that and then pick the image you want displayed when they call you...

Rival, I've done that, but the images don't show when that person calls. I thought there might be another menu option somewhere that turns that feature on, but I haven't had any luck yet. Thanks for the help. Ken |

You can try this too: pick the person in your phone book when it brings up the phone number list for that person go allll the way to the bottom choice this is where you can pick the ringer and image for that person when they call |

Its very simple. Follow these steps and let me know if its works. I do it all the time: 1) From the Menu scroll down and select 'DOWNLOADS' 2) Select 'SCREEN SAVERS" 3) You will see a list of all images that you have in your memory. 4) Select the image you want to use and click OK 5) There should be an option called "ASSIGN". click on assign, and 6) then select "PHONEBOOK" from the list 7) You will be taken to the phone book where you now can select the person who would like to assign the image to. once the name of the person is highlighted, click on OK. It will show you the picture as a preview, click OK again and it will be Image assigned. You should then be all set. Let me know if this works. Thanks. Tim |

Tim, That didn't work either. The phone rings, but without any image. I'm beginning to think that all you can do is assign an image to ALL incoming calls. In fact, I just tried setting the phone this way, and that is exactly what happens. I did the same thing you suggested: 'Downloads', then 'Screensavers', then picked an image and chose 'Assign'. Finally, I chose 'Incoming Calls', it previewed the image, clicked 'OK' and image was assigned to ALL incoming calls. Thanks for the suggestion, Ken |

I think you have a defective phone. I have about 13 images saved with different phones #s and for all those 13 assigned phone #s I get the pics I have assigned to them. I tried this with a friend of mine who has a 4900 just a few minutes ago and hers works fine too... You might want to contact Sanyo or visit your local sprint dealer. Thanks. |

I just went to the Sprint store to upgrade the software version on the 4900. When they were done upgrading I explained to the technician that the images weren't showing on incoming calls. He disappeared for about 10 minutes and returned with the phone now able to show images! Said it was something about only assigning certain ringers to phone book listings that also have images associated with them. They were SO busy that he didn't have time to show me which ringers work and which ringers don't, but I just won't change them now... I'm not sure if it was a software issue, a ringer issue, or both - but it works now. Thanks for your input, Ken |
