I asked that question at the local bestbuy and they told me they weren't going to carry it, but I doubt they knew. My prediction is that if the P300 doesn't get some distribution pretty soon, they'll clear out the stock and drop it, which would be too bad since it's a nice phone. Carl |

Hell, I hope the price of it does drop. It seems to be quite an interesting phone; but for $300 it should microwave or at least make my bed. Being the gadget queen that I am, I brought the 4900 the day it hit the store; way too late to trade in/return for the P300. |

Yesterday I bought a P300 used from someone who tried to sell it on EBay, so I should have one next week. The store wouldn't give me the $100 rebate as an existing Sprint customer (then after I bought they said they would have - go figure), so that was my best choice. Today I upgraded to the $85 Vision plan, and got free Add-a-phone, so I also bought a Sanyo 5300 today. I plan to do some RF comparisons when my P300 gets here. I'll drive to the edge of the CDMA area and see which drops out first. Having played with both phones, I like the flip phone format better, and the camera is nice on the 5300, but the PIM/sheduler/email capability seems to be better on the Hitachi. My wife will get the 5300 and I'll keep the Hitachi. That way she can send me pictures of the kids.... By the way, with the current $100 in-store rebate the Hitachi is only $200, and if you opt for Sprint Long Distance at home you can save another $20 on the phone. Carl |

i bought my N400 the day it came out......and still returned it for the P300......give the sprint store a try, complain a bit or something.... thats what i did! (but it was legit....phone was garbage both times) its an excellent phone. i love it...worth the extra 100 bucks difference. Quote:

you'll be happy with the P300, i got mine 3 days ago. (phone wasnt even "released", they had it in stock, but no display model or anything yet) and im REALLY happy w/ it. awesome features, im accustomed to using the flip style, but ive gotten accustomed to this form factor very quickly. another thing i noticed, it seems the polyphonic ringer "engine" is much better on this phone. midis i had before seem better on this phone. and the flashing light thing draws attention....i was at dennys the other night, and this girl leaned over the wall to ask me about my phone "what makes your phone flash like that?" "..its just the phone i have.." "what kind?" "its the hitachi..p300.." "what provider? att? verizon?" "sprint." "oh, ok cool" heh. i got mine for 108 bucks on top of the exchange for my n400. i was hoping they'd give me some room with the exchange, being i had to return my n400 twice before..but oh well, still worth it!! Carl-- I don't remember the P300 having a $100 rebate. Could you please tell me more about this. The SPCS rebate, from what I understood, is $50, and the Amazon rebate is $120. Thanks. |

After I posted that I realized that we seem to have a higher rebate in our local store than anyone else does. Everyone else is talking about a $50 rebate on new phones, but our local Sprint store has a $100 rebate going on all phones for new activations. With that rebate, plus a $20 rebate for switching to Sprint Long Distance, I ended up paying only $280 for my Sanyo 5300. While I was buying that, another guy came in and bought a new P300 for $200 including the $100 rebate. Another good option would be to buy off Amazon, where you can get it for only $130 after $170 in rebates, with $120 from Amazon and $50 from Sprint. I'll be able to give some good comparisons in a few days, including RF (I'll take both phones and drive out into the country until they drop service). I know I'll like the P300 better because of the PIM, and my wife will like the 5300 for the camera. Carl |

The salesman in my local Best buy store told me they didn't carry any Hitachi phones, so they wouldn't have the P300. He's just a salesman, so I doubt he has any idea. If it starts to sell well, I would guess that they'll add it, but it doesn't, they probably won't. I should get mine tomorrow, so I'll post more this weekend. Carl |
