Out of the current crop of Vision phones, I would rank them in this order. 1. Treo (great user experience...a bit on the big side, but if you already carry a phone and a PDA not that big of a deal. 1(a). Novatel Aircard (I know it's not a phone, but the ability to have a decent connection to the internet virtually anywhere is a dream come true...Average throughput speeds are 50-70 kbps, but since this is a packet based network that is slowly ramping up in many areas you can get much faster speeds. I have been traveling on I-95 heading south (80 mph) and done a speed test and received an amazing 130 kbps.) (The Yiso cards for PPC and the Sierra wireless cards should be out soon, these cards will add the option of voice calls from your pc.) 2. Sanyo 4900 (not the most glamorous of the vision phones, but best RF reception in any phone I have carried!) 3. LG 5350 (great if you you are into ringtones, 48 included ringers, nice animations, and decent RF) 4. A500 (very sleek and high tech, perfect if you need to be on the cutting edge....make sure you are in a good coverage area not the best RF reception in my opinion.) 5. N400 (very surpised by this phone the speakerphone is great, it is much smaller than it's predecessor, but like the A500 RF needs help.) 6. Toshiba 2032 and Hitachi models I have not personally tried...so I won't rate them, but the Pocket PC phone has alot of promise. What your opinion on the current Sprint PCS Vision phones?

agreed. not many Hitachis are out there but so far the few reports i have heard is of good RF reception. also after playing with the one in the store it is a nice solid feeling phone and the POP email client is very very nifty- the LED lights in the back are quite neat as well.

IdiOTeQnoLogY, I'm B2B sales, ironically we usually get the availablity to sell the new phones first, but, I myself will not generally sell one that I have not tried first hand. I've only seen the Hitachi in training and on product slicks, let me know how your customers like it. especially about RF...

i would have to agree.. the 4900 seems to pull down some signal, also, the battery is AMAZING.. my phone has been on 2 whole days now.. been taking and receiving calls and its still full, of course, i haven't gotten on the internet, or played tetris, that would definetly be the end of the battery, i turn the phone off at night. i am going to see how long i can make it go. |

no problem BeachBum. we only have the live demo in the store so far........along with the leather cases and car chargers...but no phones to sell!! so far i have heard from about 3 posters on various forums who bought them offline who say the reception is as good as their sanyos. I'll keep you updated on what i hear. I am very tempted to buy this phone.......for Business customers the POP3 email client is a killer app for those that want just a way to check email and dont need a palm phone with all the other extras. it also holds a ton of phone numbers. i heard 250 entries really means 250 entries. each entry can have a bunch of numbers and it still only takes up 1 entry. i am holiding out for the 5300 i think though. my tech says that when the hitachi test comes out he'll let me know. so far the sanyo 5000 and 6000 series phones consistently test in the tops of RF....followed by the 4000 series. my n400 he tested did good as well but samsung has quality control issues and out of the 6 reps in my store only I have the phone left. 1 other got stolen and the other 4 all were defective |
