If you follow the posts on alt.cellular.verizon, you may not be as excited about updating your PRL list. In each of the last 3 updates, the areas covered by VZW or Extended Network were cut back in metropolitan areas. It is not clear what happens to you or your bill if you do not update, but it would seem that if they do not send out a notice on the bill that you must update, older may be better.

all it does is accurately tell you if you are roaming or not. NOT changing this doesnt mean that you wont be charged roaming, cuz you will. dennis is right in that verizon has gotten rid of certain roaming agreements with some companies. changing the prl will just accurately tell you if you are on the network, extended network, or roaming. NOT changing the prl will INaccurately display whether you are on the network, on the extended network, or roaming. so its advised to update your prl. and it is on your bill. verizon just doesnt call it a prl, they say that coverage is always changing so, you should update your phone by calling *228. (or something to that extent)
