I agree - it seems to have it all - color screen, 1x, voice dial, BREW, GPS, and a speaker phone. It seems to have more than the A310, T720, and the VX-1. All of the other phones are missing at least one of the above features. Why isn't this phone getting more interest? The Audiovox phones made by Toshiba (this is one) are supposedly excellent.

The reason there isn't much interest in the CDM-9500 is because it's horribly ugly. Where the T720 was simply "boxy" and conservative, this new 9500 is a very ugly phone with only one line on the outer caller ID display. Nobody likes an ugly phone, no matter what its capabilities are. The way you're offering the phones, Anonymous, makes it seem like you stole them or aren't legitimate. |

Yes, the outer display is two lines, and according to my local Verizon rep, he said it's slated for release in mid-october now. He said there's a really good chance the shipment coming into my local store on thursday will have these phones. If that's the case, I'm gonna get one and try it for 15 days.

Yup, this phone looks promising. Unlike the T720 & A310, this one has a lot more features. Hopefully, this is the one that will ginally make me upgrade.

Whomever posted the link to the Audiovox Corporation's picture had the wrong phone. If you'll look closely at the bottom of the picture of the opened phone, you'll see it says "Toshiba". This phone was planned to originally be Toshiba, but they changed their minds and decided to release it as an Audiovox phone. The phone coming out on Verizon will be silver, not blue. As you can see, Audiovox made some changes to the phone. It would look nice as the blue picture on that link above, but as silver I dislike its appearance. Here's what the Audiovox CDM-9500 will look like: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?id=170 I was wrong about one thing, however: it is a two line outer display. It's just extremely small, and to me, it looked like one line. |

Sorry for any confusion, I am an Authorized Verizon Wireless agent. I work for a company called Flexicom. We sell all Verizon equipment, you just don't have to deal with the corporate Mumbo-Jumbo. Unfortunatley of those of you who have been calling me about the new phones I can only activate service in Ohio. I can get the phones for you, (except the 9500 because it hasn't been approved by Verizon) I will post a message when the 9500 is available for purchase using Verizon Wireless service. The A-310, and the Motorola 720 are currently available I can mail these out to you but you will have to activate service in your area. If you are a preexisting customer give me a call. The Kyocerea 7135 and Audiovox 9500 will be available in the next couple of weeks. Thank you Mike McGovern Authorized agent of Verizon Wireless 614-595-6004 |

It depends on which market you're aiming for: If you're aiming at the cellular market, then Audiovox would probably be better. That name already has a pretty good reputation for quality phones. In my opinion, their phones last long, but they are always behind in terms of appearance and impressive features (take their last big hit, the CDM-9000, as an example). If you're aiming outside of the cellular market, then Toshiba would be better. Everyone knows that name through their electronics and they make pretty good TVs, so that's what the population would associate the phone with. Not many people outside of the cell-loop have heard of "Audiovox" at all. If it were up to me, I'd have it as an Audiovox phone but with the blue color of the Toshiba. When a phone doesn't have changeable faceplates, it should come in a dark color like the one on that Audiovox Corp. website. Aside from that, it just looks better blue. |

Thank you very much for your quick valuable opinion. I agree with you that Audiovox has name in mobile phone while Toshiba does not. Now I am watching how Toshiba is received by the end-users as cellular phones. In fact, there is one more thing that I would like to know; what generation has the cellular phone the most in U.S. I mean,,, do most students in the U.S have cellular phone? Also do you use e-mail through the cellular pohne I am asking this since I am now away from the U.S. Please advise. |

The mobile phone market has definitely gone to the youngsters. When they were first introduced, the cell phone was for the business man/woman, and its price made it that only the most important of people would have it. However, as their prices came down, the result of more and more cell phones being available with more technologies and companies, its market age became younger and younger. Today, the cellular market is mostly comprised of teenagers. Teenagers control most big U.S. Markets, and most adults don't even realize it. From movies to music to cell phones to shoes, the teenager controls the U.S. market. There are more and more of them working, yet without bills to pay they have their money to spend on whatever they want. Today, the cell phone is a "Status Symbol" and I truly don't know hardly anybody without one, especially those in the younger age bracket. Wireless companies have re-designed themselves around the teenager, making phones more fun with the addition of things such as games. If you ask me, the StarTac was the revolution of cell phones, because until the StarTac came out, all cell phones were naturally boring. The StarTac made wireless companies/phone manufacturers see that a cell phone could be a fresh, new idea. And the money it made for Motorola also helped. Why, I remember someone telling me about it before I even saw it. They were telling me about a phone "that you could place into the palm of your hand" and that amazed me. I was so used to the big, clunky cellulars. So yes, mostly all students have a cell phone. And the mobile internet has gotten very big as well, so there are plenty of people sending e-mails through phones. It's mostly text messages, though. A lot easier to use. |

Corey, why didn't you like the T720 and the A310, I like both, and was thinking of getting one or the other (or something else lol)....you dont really need to re-hash it all if you could give me some URL's. I played with the T720 today...it was OK, kinda boring...color does not thrill me much I guess.

The only good thing the T720 has going for it is the color screen. There were many things I disliked about the phone, particularly it's cheap/unsturdy feel and look. I just don't believe that it's worth the money I'm paying for it, and worth a contract at all, which means I'd be paying full retail for it. It's not that I'm a penny pincher, but when I get something I'm going to be using all the time, and very vital in my life, I want to be --100%-- satisfied with it. I was about 65% satisfied with the T720. I was 50% satisfied with the A310. When it first came out, it was a good phone, but once I realized that there were so many new and better phones coming out on Verizon, I felt that if I kept the phone, later on down the road I'd be wishing I got another one. Plus, I also got word of all these new phones Verizon will have coming out from now until Christmas and after. So I simply sent the phones back and went to my old minute plan, on a month to month basis, until something comes out that I truly love. Until then, my old TM-510 will do. |

I work for verizon and the audiovox9500 is gonna be awesome. it has everything the t720 and samsung a310 have plus more, such as the speakerphone. the resolution is incredible. i saw it today from a regional vice president of verizon. I must agree that it is kind of ugly looking though. Anyone interested in this phone might also want to take a look at the new samsung 530, the new LG phone, and the Kyocera 7035 that will be released by verizon before the end of the year. This series of phones will all offer color displays.

I can't wait for the 9500 to get here. The other phones you mentioned would be very nice if they all had the speakerphone feature. I can't understand why all phones do not have this wonderful and practical feature. If more phones had all the good features combined, they would probably sell like hot cakes. Just my opinion. Keep the news of the 9500 coming! Ron Wix |

That's enough to turn me away. Considering Verizon has plenty of new phones coming out, why jump on the boat for an ugly one that you're not even sure works well? I've done that too many times. I'm just gonna wait it out. | |

ALLTEL will be launching the phone in store across the Nation on November 27th. I like the silver phone better. But I, personally, think the phone is too boxy. The belt clip makes the phone stick out about 3/4 inch. Not very portable or convenient to carry |
