signal strength on vx1

I have a LG VX1 on Verizon Wireless in NYC. I've noticed that the signal bars on the phone are always low, usally around 1 or 2 bars, no matter where I go, even when I KNOW that I'm in an area with great coverage. Some people who try to call me tell me that they are automatically forwarded to voicemail, as if the phone was in a no service area. My question is, would a software update perhaps help with this issue? I'm pretty sure it's not the antenna; I've replaced it with one that I bought from the store, so I'm just wondering i it's a software issue. Thanks alot in advance

When I first got my VX1 Sprint was putting in a new tower next to me and I had similar problems. It turned out after sprint got their issues worked out and the tower went online (I found all this out AFTER the fact of course) the issues were completely worked out. I can't say if this is your problem, but that is what happened to me.

Also you say you replaced the antenna? I am curious as to why you did this. The VX1 has a very solid antenna and I would think replacing it with anything else would degrade the performance.

i live in queens and work in manhattan (midtown) and i have not had any signal or reception problem with my vx 1. the only place i have trouble getting a really good signal (3-6 bars) is in my house which usually pulls 1 or 2 bars. but even then my phone works without a problem
