Default Samsung 8500 vs. a460

I curently have a samsung 8500 which i am very proud of. I always have great signal reception and few dropped calls. Its a little banged up but still works fine. But there always comes a time to get something new. And the a460 caught my eye. If anybody out there could help me out with these questions, i would greatly apreciate it.
Question #1.Does the a460 have the same great signal reception as my old 8500?

Question #2.Is the a460 a full fledged 3g phone?

Question #3. When i log on to the wireless internet on my 8500 it tends to be a little slow, will this phone have faster internet access, and what data transmission speed does it have for wireless web(example: 14.4kbs)?

Question #4.Does the gps feature on the phone actualy tell you where you are at? or does it not benifit you directly in knowing where you are at?if so it is a gps reciever ofd sorts, what kind of antenna does it have?(quad helix)?

Question #%.Does it have voice memo recording capability?
well i hope you can take your time in answering these for me please, and feel free to tell me all the pros and cons of the a460. I really do apreceate it. thank you very much. or also, give me some suggestions on other sprint phones too? i only have 200$ to spend anyways.. bye

Default Samsung 8500 vs. a460

from what i know, the 8500 model is one of the better phones made by samsung. the A460 is still kinda in its new stage, so probably wont get too much feedback yet. But i can tell you that it is selling at a really fast rate. Probably because it looks really cool. I dont believe it is 3G capable, but i will double check that when i go into work. Most 3G phones will have a little sticker on its back that says "3G CDMA by Qualcomm". If you do get the A460, get it asap at best buy, because they are running a crazy sale for like $80 i think. Sprint lowered its price from $199.99 to $149.99 just a few days ago. The internet speed will be the same as your 8500 since sprint hasnt released any 3G data capable handsets yet. if you are concerned about data speeds, wait a couple of weeks. The 3G data phones are due for release in August sometime. Hope this info helps

Oh and if you like samsungs, the A500 (should be right model #) which is fully 3G capable with color LCD is coming out really soon.

Default Samsung 8500 vs. a460

I just returned my a460. The clarity on the phone was good but I was dropping too many calls. I would seriously suggest waiting for sprints new phones to come out rather than going with the a460.

I have the A460, and an A400 before this. STICK WITH YOUR 8500. A good friend of mine turned me on to the A400 series after having a 8500 that he loved, so I figured great, it's a new model 8500. Unfortunately, the A460 just sucks. My A400 had tons better reception. I drop calls ALL THE TIME now. Battery life looks to be pretty good, but it doesn't make any difference if you can't make a call.

Just wanted to see if SprintTechRep had any thoughts on the service/signal for this phone. I currently have a 8500 and I drop calls wherever I am in the US more frequently than I would like. Just trying to make my remaining sprint contract work.

This phone is 3G voice ready right? Has this launched yet and if not will this increase the signal strength in the future?

Default Samsung 8500 vs. a460

I think the 8500 is one of the better samsung models. I havent heard much from customers about the A460 yet. But it seems like an average phone (perfomance wise) All i know is it is selling ridiculously fast. I dont think it is 3G capable at all. But ive read conflicting post about this on forums. Next time i work is friday. I will give you a definite answer then. If your dropping calls non-stop, could be something wrong with your handset. Or you could be in an area where they are having problems. You should file a trouble ticket, and ask the cust service rep to check for similar complaints in your area. They have a system "Actiview" which can do this. I was very tempted to buy the A460 myself because of its looks. But my experience in dealing with samsungs tell me to stick to my sanyo Samsungs get little to no service in my apartment, but my sanyo's get full bars, and flawless performance. Something you might wanna try. Keep in mind if you dont like the sanyo, you can return it for full refund within 14 days.

If this phone is 3G voice, will that improve signal quality when 3G launches next month? (Last statement based on assumption that 3G service is not currently available).
