Is 1xRTT networks the same as 3G? Just wondering because although I have no idea what 3g will do for me but the guy at circuit city told me that the a460 was upgradable. Who's right? |

Most commonly when you here 3G and 1X they are interchangeable. In reality, 1X is really more of a 2.5G move. But the terms are very loosely used. CNET Wireless vs. Circuti City sales person? My vote goes with CNET. The guy was just trying ot make a sale. |

looks like a nice phone, except for the 3g issues. anyone have thoughts on whether there will be any reasonably priced 3g phones coming out soon, say less than $200, or are all the new phones going to be super-duper color screen crazy expensive models? btw, someone replied on the boards here that this phone is voice compatible, but not data compatible, with 3g. |

Yes the new Kyocera 2345 is a 3G phone and will be priced at only $129. It's supposed to be out next week. It's a good deal considering that the 2255 started out at the same price but had less features. I've started a new group for the 2345 here: Kyocera 2345 group |

i wouldnt even get the a460. it'sbattery life sucks and as larry said other phones are shortly to be released that are fully compatible with 1x networks .......keep a look out for the new kyoceras, sanyos, a colour motorola, a colour hitachi...as well as a myriad of new samsungs. my personal vote right now goes to sanyos....currently the 6200 is my favourite spcs phone and has tops reception.

The Sanyo 4900 should also be a solid performer. Has Sanyo fixed that poor analog signal problem yet?

I guess it all depends on who you ask. I asked here and at Sprint and got the same answer. A460 is 3G voice only.
