Hi, I'm new to the forum-this is my first post! I am writing to give others my cell phone experience so that someone (hopefully- will benefit. I was a Sprint PCS user from '97-'2001. The service was terrible in Buffalo, NY while in residency. I'm talking about dropped calls, garbled words, cutting in and out, etc.. I was using the original SONY phone. My next phone was the Samsung 8500-little better, but not much. At least it had analog! After that I no longer needed service, so I quit my service. Now, I need service again. I am back home in Redding, CA! () I now need service for my business. So I feverishly studied the plans, and decided that Verizon had the best coverage locally and nationally. Furthermore, I already knew I wanted a tri-mode phone. Now came the hard part-the 'perfect' phone-does not exist! Verizon's selection of phone's are poor. They seem to be lacking in this department compared to the other provider's, but there service is next to none! After reading reviews from multiple sources, I narrowed down my selection to v60c, TM-510, VX1, and Kyocera 2235. Since I am biased toward the flip design, the Kyocera was out. (As a side note, my sister did try out the Kyocera 2235 and noted a significant amount of echoing) The VX1 was out because of its lack of voice dialing. So now I am left with the final two: v60c v. TM-510. Both happened to have significant rebates. The v60c would cost me $200 after rebates and the TM-510 $99 after rebates-both pretty good deals! Because both had similar features and generally good reviews, I opted for the cheaper TM-510. Now I did realize going in that the LG had a battery issue, but I did not realize how severe. After conditioning the battery by fully discharging then charging x 3, I should have optimized the battery life...... WRONG! After using the phone (i.e. talking) for ten minutes, the charge went from a full charge to one bar and then no bars with beeping! Furthermore, I like to take advantage of all the features of the phones I buy, and surfing the net really discharged the battery quickly. So I exchanged the phone for the v60c-what a difference. While not feeling as sturdy, there are more options and the battery life is much better. It was worth the extra money for the battery life alone. The voice dialing is great, and the clarity is excellent. However, I would have liked to wait for the Samsung A310, but I could not wait. Furthermore, I do not like to buy a new phone before it has proven inself. Lastly, I want my next phone to have a color screen with Brew and that will work on Verizon's Express Network. Well, that's been my experience, I hope that this will be useful to someone. I have benefitted greatly and have enjoyed immensely reading the discussion in this forum. I hope to be an active participant. |

I also just signed up with Verizon and went through all the research you did. I ended up selecting the Kyocera 3035 because it was $29.99 after rebate and had BREW and a large screen for web browsing. The phone turned out being difficult to use with it's goofy nav button and the ringer wasn't very loud even on it's loudest setting. The phone was also awkward to carry around and the battery life was poor. The first time I was on a 25 minute call (starting with the battery meter at 3/4 full), the battery died in mid-conversation without any warning from the phone and it wouldn't let me turn it back on. After a week, I realized this phone was not going to work for me so I went back and got the v60c. Like you said, the features and sound quality is great. I also think it feels it's a little flimsy, but overall a much better phone than the Kyocera. Does your v60 lid move a little when it is closed (like when you pick it up)? I also noticed a slight high-pitched noise in the call when the backlight is on, but it goes away when the light goes off.

my v60c moves around a little when closed as well....the high pitched noise is common with the type of backlighting used on the v60....but i have read that some v60's make the noise less louder than others... i have owned this phone for a little over a week already, and i am very happy....though the speaker is not as loud as my old startac, it is very clear and smooth sounding. I'm not sure how well the microphone works, but I havent had any complaints from people i speak to on the phone. even though the phone is being replaced in a month, I feel (know) that I made a great choice. |

I keep my phone in a case, so I can't comment about the lid moving around. As for the high pitch sound, I haven't noticed it-although I must admit that I have high tone deafness. But I too believe I got an awesome deal regardless of the fact that the v60i is coming out soon because I think it will be priced around $400.00!

| Guest Posts: n/a | Uro you has sprint for 4 years when you had constant dropped calls, bad reception, ect. Why did it take you 4 years to finally change providers? If it was me I would be off it in a week. |

At that time I was in residency, so I was so busy I could hardly breathe. Furthermore, I was always assured by the local retail store that towers are always going up, so why not wait a little longer? So I did, what a mistake! I should have switched as soon as I had time, but I didn't. Jock it up to experience. Now, whomever is best at the moment, I will go with. Right now it's Verizon, so that's why I'm with them.

This may help, the TM510 does not have any sort of phonebook/phone editing software to hook up the phone to the computer. Other than that, many like it as a cheap alternative to the V60. |
