I was wondering if anyone knew if you can use a Sprint Motorola 7868 on the Alltel network. I have researched this model, and I believe it is only made in tri-mode (800/1900/800) Since Sprint is at 1900mhz and Alltel is at 800mhz, would this phone be compatible. If not, is there a code I can get to re-program the phone to work on an 800mhz CDMA network. Let me know and thanks!!! Michael Schwab |

It can't be activated with Alltel. First because of the 1900 MHZ issue and also because it can't be programmed to work on Alltel because it has a Sprint lock code.

it's compatible, ALLTEL actually sells that model phone for there network but will Sprint give you the unlock code and ALLTEL program it. No If you want that phone just buy it from ALLTEL, its basically the same phone. |

Why would Alltel have the same model as Sprint? Sprint is 1900 CDMA and Alltel is 800 CDMA. Sprint's StarTac version is actually the 7867 not 7868. And by the way Sprint will not give out the lock code.

Sorry, Larry I was mistaken the one that ALLTEL sells for there network is the 7868 which is a Tri-Mode phone (800 CDMA/1900 CDMA and analog). I thought Sprint PCS sold that model too but I believe you are right Sprint sold the 7867 which is basically the same phone as the 68 but without the 800 Mhz Digital. In that case that phone will NOT work with ALLTEL as they are mostly 800 mhz CDMA.
