Ericsson T68m I just noticed that in my area Cingular has a new GSM phone avaible on there website. It's the Ericsson T68m and it looks like a cool phone. It appears to be a GPRS phone and it is also Bluetooth compatible. On Cingular.com its avaible for $299 with a 2 year contract. The only thing I have noticed is the talk and standby times just have to be wrong.
Cingular has the talk time listed as 3 days and the standby time as 165 days!

That's all standard Jack except that one thing "(1) use a GSM/analog dual-mode phone" that makes no sense Cingular in there GSM markets don't even sell any phone's that are cabable of analog roaming right now.
They do sell the Cingular Nation Plans to people in GSM areas with Digital phone's only, infact thats all they sell them too cause they don't have any phones that are cabable of analog.

Once they start selling the Nokia 6340 they will have a analog phone. It is a GSM 1900 - TDMA 800/1900 - AMPS.

I know the GAIT phone, but I don't see why they print that on there website when they don't even sell that phone yet. Maybe when they start selling that phone for the Nation Plans they will only sell you that phone but as of right now you can choose any digital only phone from them and put it on any plan.

Not yet it doesn't Jack, although I was at the mall recently and a resellar there was only selling the Cingular Home Plans. Apparently she stated they was NOT going to sell the Cingular Nation Plans until they got in the Nokia 6340 GAIT phone.
I found that odd, Cingular's booth in the mall and at there main office sells the Nation Plans on any phone but apparently at least one of resellar's around here will not sell you a Nation Plan until they get the GAIT phone in.

The T68i is an upgrade from the T68m. The look of the phone is just a little different, and the they come in different colors.
The main difference that I noticed; Is that the T68m is only made by Ericsson, as it only says Ericsson the phone, but the t68i is made by Sony Ericcson (Sony & Ericsson combined their mobile market), as it says Sony Ericsson on the phone. Take a look at it on the Sony Ericsson website:

Hi - I've got a bites of some of your "chats" but you seem to know alot about the T68i. Do you know when Cingular or VoiceStream will be selling them - and when they do - will we be able to photo-message?

The t68m is the newer version with software upgrades. The t68i had some gliches, these have been repaired. Cingular ships these phones to their stores on July 1.

I just purchased a T68m phone at my local Cingular store, it's awesome! I'm in the Los Angeles area which recently got GPRS coverage.
From my research the T68m and T68i phone hardware is the same. The shell of the T68i is different and it has the latest firmware (WAP 2.0, etc.). The T68i is for the European market. The T68m mostly for the US market. The T68m is fully upgradeable (via firmware) to have all the features the T68i has. It's just a matter of SonyEricsson and the providers to fully test it out on their network. The fact the T68m is "upgradeable" is what got me to buy now.
Cheers...

Just read... from
http://www.cnet.com/wireless/0-1923403-8-9405914-2.html
"Sony Ericsson says T68 buyers will be able to upgrade to the T68i's software once it hits the market, so if you don't care about the e911 feature and are happy with the T68's gold or gray finish, you might as well pick up this sharp cell phone as long as you don't overpay for it. "
So the only different is actual hardware is the e911 feature. But even if you want the e911 feature you need to check if your local emergency operators support it. e911 is a feature that allows the police to trace your location in case of an emergency.
