I hope I don't put out someone's eye with that antenna...

Hey AnthroMatt, It is the longest antenna I've seen but it pulls in a signal like no tomorrow. I am in rural areas a lot and am amazed at the quality of sound as compared to my previous phone and provider. My only issue is the battery and I plan to get the extended model shortly. The standard is OK, but I had to make several calls today and was on one bar of signal strength for a while and nervous that the phone would quit before I had a chance to get back to my car and recharge it. The more I use the phone, the better I like it. Suliman |

I've not yet had to extend my antenna to use the phone. I must assume, since they went to the trouble, that it is an actual antenna and not a just a piece of plastic on for pyschological effect.

No, thank God it's not made by Motorola, ala the 720 POS. My understanding is that the 8000 series of Audiovox is made by Hyundai and the 9000 series by Toshiba. Night and day as the 9000 series are generally found to be good to great phones. I know my 9500 has been bullet-proof so far. Suliman |

Suliman, Did you get your extended battery yet? If so, was it well worth it?

It is supposed to be enroute. I have read a couple of comments about the extended battery and those posters said it solved their battery life concerns. I have noticed I am getting a little better life out of the standard battery, and I use the car charger between stops to "top it off". I am amazed at how well it pulls in signal in weak-signal areas.
